TRAI Extends Deadline For Mobile Operators To Provide Prepaid Account Info


Telecom regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the implementation time of its Telecom Consumers Protection Regulations, 2012 from 45 days to 75 days.
On 7th January 2012 to bring in transparency in tariff offerings, help consumers in understanding the various tariff plans and vouchers on offer TRAI has made it a must for all mobile phone operators (CDMA/GSM) to provide prepaid users updates of calls made and data downloads every time they use voice and data services. And also announced new guidelines for Prepaid Vouchers with color schemes.
Earlier the GSM and CDMA Mobile service provider’s associations have represented to the TRAI for extension of time period to implement the provisions of the regulations, pertaining to vouchers, provision of information after every call, SMS and data usage.
All operators also requested additional time for clearing the existing stock of Topup and tariff vouchers. Considering the requests of the mobile service providers , TRAI has decided to extend the time period for implementing the new regulations to 75 days from the existing limit of 45 days.

BSNL Launches 2 Mbps Free Trial Plan for Broadband Customers


India’s National Telecom Backbone and largest Broadband service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), today announced the launch of Free 2 Mbps Trial Plan for its prospective Broadband customers across all circles.
The move is aimed at making BSNL’s ADSL based wire-line Broadband services more popular to the public, BSNL offers Free Broadband trial plan with 2 Mbps Speed and 500 MB free data usage for 15 days to the prospective broadband customers with their own modem.
During the free trial period customer can apply for a regular Broadband plan. If customer does not apply for a regular plan within 15 days, the plan will be terminated automatically after 15 days. The offer is available in all circles up to 31st March 2012.
Free trial of IPTV :
Apart from free trail plan for Broadband BSNL also launches Free trial of IPTV services for one month. Free trial of IPTV services for one month will be offered to prospective broadband customers registering their broadband connection up to 31-03-2012 on regular basis in cities where IPTV service is available.

Tata Docomo Photon Max Introduces Unlimited PlanTata Docomo today extended its unlimited plan with fair usage policy (FUP) for its Photon Max customers in Mumbai circle.
Earlier the plan was launched for Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and now extended to Mumbai.
With this plan, existing and new post-pay Tata DOCOMO Photon Max customers will get flat bill cap of Rs. 1000/- every month under which they can utilize 3GB data at up to 6.2 mbps (downlink) speed. Post 3GB, speeds will be capped at up to 153.6 Kbps.

Nokia India today announced ‘Nokia Music Theatre’ – a first-of-its-kind premier platform for discovering and nurturing musical talent from the grassroots and providing them with an opportunity to showcase their talent.

Nokia Music Theatre, the result of the partnership between Nokia India and The Peninsula Studios, is an effort to nurture the rich and diverse musical heritage of India. Nokia Music Theatre aims to provide a 360-degree support to talented musicians across the country transcending boundaries of languages, genres and musical forms.
The project was successfully piloted in Rajasthan in 2010 where 17 artistes were handpicked from small towns and villages across the state. The pilot culminated with the launch of the first music album – ‘Asha – discovery of the Peninsula’ under the banner of Nokia Music Theatre and published by Universal Music. The album is also available for download on the Nokia Music Store.

Google replaces ‘Android Market’ to ‘Google Play’


Google Inc renamed its online storefront for music, books and digital goods, its latest move to raise its profile in the market for e-content sales. The company has renamed the Android Market name for its store that sells apps, videos, music and ebooks on the Web and on mobile devices.
This rebranding will however be not limited to only the web version but will make its way onto Android based mobiles/tablets pretty soon as well.
Android market, Google Music and Google eBook store had already replaced with Google Play store. For example, Android market redirects to Google Play Store, Google eBook store redirects to Google Play Book Store and Google Music redirects to Google Play Music Store.
Since Google Music and Google ebook store are not available in India, Google Play will be redesigned and rebranded Android Market. The new app Google Play shall soon be rolling to all Android devices running on 2.2 Froyo and above through OTA (Over the air) in phased manner.

Vodafone India Celebrates the Festival of Colours with Rs. 75 Bonus Card
